Her gjengir vi helsingane.

YWCA of Palestine

Our friends in the Union
It is with great shame and concern that we received the news of the bombing in the square in Oslo, and the shooting in the camp, that led to the loss of so many innocent lives. Norway is one of the most peaceful cities, and we have always admired your openness, culture,  values and ethics as people and state, democracy and respect for all, so this really comes as a shock to you and us. I hope that this extremism and violence will be controlled through dialogue, understanding, respect and acceptance of diversity which we are all working towards, as we struggle in our human development processes.

Please accept my personal sympathy, and the sympathy of the YWCA of Palestine, and convey our condolences to the families of the deceased. Sorry for the delay in sending this but I was away and have been struggling to catch up since my return from travel. Please pass on our sympathy and message of solidarity to our dear friend Ingrid Opdol as well.

In solidarity

Nepal Teachers’ Association (NTA) and Teachers’ Union of Nepal (TUN)

Dear Colleagues
I am shocked and deeply sad to learn that your country - one of the most beautiful in the earth with icy mountains, deep and dark fjords, northern lights and midnight sun and most importantly the country held high from the great Norwegian people with their un failed sense of patriotism and commitment to make it a welfare country in true sense; is in of national tragedy, after two terrorist attacks one in Oslo and the other in Utoeya- an island in paradise.

I condemn the terrorist acts causing deaths to ninety more innocent people mostly the students of our classrooms in Norway. I would like to share the deep sense of sorrow and grief you are suffering with and hope the wise and brave people of Norway will do everything not to let such heinous crime repeat again. You know how our failures to control similar acts of Maoist guerrillas in the beginning have devastated each and every efforts of Nepal to ensure peace, stability and promises of prosperity in our beloved nation.

From the time I heard and read the news of this barbaric acts I’m in great pain remembering all those people, including Ms. Helga Hjetland in then NL Headoffice, Oslo and other colleagues I had met during my visit to Norway and places I had visited there in the invitation of the then NL Hedmark.

Kindly accept my heartfelt condolences to the bereaved nation and family.

With Love and Regards
Keshav Prasad Bhattarai
Former President

NFS
